About Me

Well hello! My name is Michael and I’m graduate from Portland State University with a Bachelors in Graphic Design and a minor in Time Arts (animation). I’m able to work in any area of design but my favorite areas to focus on include branding, creative direction and illustration. My work intends to center around combining modern digital tools with my background in traditional arts.

Ever since I can remember I have always had a passion for the arts. Growing up it was rare to see me without a pen or pencil in hand as I was always enrolled in art classes in or out of school. Come high school, I was captivated by various product designs and cartoons I saw on TV. I remember filling my sketchbook with mock-ups of products where I experimented with color and type choices. Once I found out that this art form was known as graphic design I instantly knew what I wanted to pursue post high school

I’m currently working at Cut as the design lead where I define brand guidelines and visual direction. I also work with my long time friend, Spencer Garland, who runs a creative firm known as BRENDA ARTS. There I help with art direction and ideation for various creative projects.
